Acceptance

By downloading, installing, or using Folium ("the launcher", "we", "us"), you agree to these Terms. If you don't agree with them, please don't use the launcher. If you're using Folium on behalf of someone else, you confirm you're allowed to accept these Terms for them.

License & use

Folium is provided free of charge for personal use. We grant you a non-exclusive, revocable license to install and run the launcher on the computers you own or control, and to create as many instances as your hardware allows. You may not re-distribute the launcher.

Refunds

Folium is free to download and use, so there is nothing to purchase and no refunds are offered. If any optional paid feature is introduced in the future, its own refund terms (if any) will be stated at the point of purchase.

Accounts, Mojang & Microsoft

Folium uses official Microsoft authentication to sign you in to Minecraft, and never sees or stores your Microsoft password. Your use of Minecraft itself is governed by Mojang's and Microsoft's own agreements (including the Minecraft End User License Agreement), and nothing here replaces them. Folium is an independent project and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Mojang Studios or Microsoft. You are responsible for keeping your account credentials secure and for any activity under your account.

User content & mods

Folium helps you discover and install mods, resource packs, shaders, data packs, and modpacks from third-party sources such as Modrinth. That content belongs to its respective authors and is subject to their own licenses and terms. We don't create, own, or vet this content, and installing it is your decision. Always respect the licenses of the projects you install.

Acceptable use

Don't use Folium to break the law, to access accounts or game licenses that aren't yours, to distribute malware, or to circumvent the protections of Minecraft or any third-party service.

Disclaimer of warranty

Folium is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose, merchantability, and non-infringement. We don't promise the launcher will always be available, error-free, or compatible with every mod, version, or system. Modding inherently carries risk, and you use it at your own risk.

Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms as the launcher evolves. Continuing to use Folium after a change means you accept the revised Terms. Material changes will be announced in our community where reasonable.

The short version

Folium is a desktop app that runs on your computer. We don't run accounts, we don't have a server that stores your data, and we don't sell anything about you. Almost everything Folium needs lives in files on your own machine.

Your Minecraft account

You sign in through Microsoft's official login. Folium never sees or stores your Microsoft password. The login gives the launcher a token so it can start the game as you. That token and your profile (username and UUID) are stored locally on your computer so you don't have to sign in every time. You can sign out at any time to remove them.

What's stored on your computer

Your instances, settings, installed mods, and login session are kept in Folium's data folder on your machine. Folium does not upload these anywhere. Deleting an instance or signing out removes the related files locally.

Third-party services

Folium connects to the following external services to do its job. Each has its own privacy policy that applies to data they receive.

• Microsoft & Xbox Live: handles sign-in and issues the token that lets Folium launch Minecraft as you. Folium never sees your Microsoft password.
• Mojang / Minecraft: used to verify your account, download the game, and fetch version metadata and assets.
• Modrinth: searched when you browse or install mods, resource packs, shaders, and modpacks from the Discover tab.
• CurseForge: also available from the Discover tab. Requests go through a small Folium proxy that only forwards your query to CurseForge; it is not used to profile you.
• Cloudflare: delivers launcher assets and update packages. Standard request logs (IP, timestamp, URL) apply per Cloudflare's privacy policy.
• Discord: if Discord is running, Folium sends rich-presence updates to Discord on your machine; Folium does not relay it to any server.

Requests to these services are made only for the specific feature you are using. Folium does not aggregate or sell any information derived from them.

No ads, no tracking, no analytics

Folium shows no ads and includes no third-party tracking or analytics. We don't build a profile of you or sell data, because we don't collect it in the first place.

Changes

If this policy changes as the launcher evolves, the updated version will be posted here. Meaningful changes will be shared in our community where reasonable.
